| despite media claims, the bush administration has not put forth a single initiative designed to advance democracy, not in america and not anywhere in the world. in fact, it has set in motion programs designed to dismantle democracy in order that its real goal can be achieved. undoubtedly, this resuming itself to unrestricted capitalism and corporate profit. starting with the 1930s, democracy disappeared in a polarized germany, bitterly divided between communists and nazis. the germans came to believe that political differences were too fundamental for compromise. in that atmosphere, where all political differences were considered matters of ultimate morality, each side grabbed as much power as it could until the rule of law, individual liberty and ultimately even elections were abolished. political compromise is becoming more difficult as more americans view their political commitments as ultimate truth and the views of others, ultimate wrong. if I remember well, one of the most ironic tv-presenter, Jay Leno said mockingly: *war continues in iraq. they're calling it operation iraqi freedom. they were going to call it operation iraqi liberation until they realized that spells 'OIL'*. throughout the entire middle east, the average islam belief set forth on the grounds of religious fundamentalism unveils the irony of americans fighting a *war on terror*. oil = money = power, an equation armoured in villainy and mumbled flogging of democratic rules. in such circumstances, we’re testifying to drifting ideals (new world order- under the American flag) to which a dozen or more questions remain unanswered. welcome to the agonia website. | |
