Autumn can be a soul’s morn’ too
Lo! The first sunrays,
uncovered by a travelling cloud,
tenderly touch your body bathed
in endless joy –
it is a sign that autumn is
wending its way towards renewal;
never have life and death been closer to each other
never has winter been so close to spring
than thro’ this utter joy
unlimited though with no reason,
you feel you’re being spring and bird,
both sky and earth,
both stone and wind –
yes, all at once,
it’s everywhere that you are,
self and not-self,
the body’s vanishing, the worlds are fusing,
they become violet as is the sky;
you know you’ll soon merge with the flow
a confident smile on your lips
It’s the divine that counts. There is no void.
