Even days

You’ve tamed the beast that was breathing through my nerves
ending the unrest
from my body’s flesh.

The solstice enters the winter’s gates,
the cold allows itself to be stolen away,
the unexpected loneliness fruit
taste bitter.

Even days
passed from the palm line towards the sunset
dress the holiday’s carol clothes,
the kings of the old court are approaching.

I think about how we will share the joys
under the decorated trees of knowledge
among the born and unborn children
when they say their names or move
with the shyness of those who know more than they can say.
