1.
Step silently, a whistle to my breath… Lay heavy wooden tears in smell of roses And metal acid rain with lips of poison And wings of blood as cold as death, Take step by step in funeral distortion, Add not the time of violent violins: A window in my tomb? Or so it seems… And tremble hard the graves of silent oceans Rise high thy lead crystal goblet… and drink And weep the fountain of my blood, No more a shadow in my path, No more a man, no more a king, I drink and die, I drink. 2. My heart’s the graveyard of thy flowers, With eyes and lips of purple rain And sleep so vile, dark and ancient names As if they’d sleep on peaceful waters, Long live the age of cruel madness, No other man to kneel at my feet; A crown of sympathy and grief, To those whose light now lurk in darkness Thy angel fallen from its wings, A rusted steel heart, forged from its feathers, Long, vast, unconquered masks of human daggers: A bell of mercy solitary rings… And walk I through the Valley of the Kings.
