A new cultural event organised in London by Diana Varbanescu would like to invite you to meet a young and talented Romanian writer and artist born in Braila, Romania in 1981.

Bogdan Tiganov

Tiganov has studied arts at Nicolaie Balcescu School of music where he learned to play the piano and wrote his first compositions. Later on, in London – UK, he studied visual arts under Don Pavey’s close supervision. By the time he was 14 years of age Bogdan Tiganov has managed to complete (writing and illustrating) his first book. He stirred a great deal of interest within children books publishers’ circles.
Tiganov has a degree in English Literature and has received a CELTA teaching diploma from IH Barcelona.
He has collaborated with various magazines worldwide. He published several books and appeared in a few Anthologies.

His latest book ‘The Wooden Tongue Speaks. Romanians: Contradictions & Realities’, 2008, compiles short stories and poetry taking the reader on a journey, inside author’s hometown of Braila. Issues of religion, politics and social discrepancies are explored into a new emerging, post-communist, contradictory world.
The book received generous reviews from D.B.Pacini, Helena Drysdale, Ilinca Bernea and press.

On the 27th of September Bogdan Tiganov will be in London reading from ‘The Wooden Tongue Speaks'.
