fallen apples recite a long-forgotten poem
the story of a tree which could never grow fruits
and never blossomed
at all times covering the land with silence

no tree ever wanted to talk to it
but it couldn’t care less about their chatter
it fought day and night against its roots
cursing inside its trunk
everything that kept it from reaching the sky
the ground
the branches, too short
not rich enough and so easy to break by lightning

only in spring you could hear at night a violent
the time when all the other trees began to blossom
was the time when it would denigrate its sterile sap

no one really understood why, but even though
it was clear that jealousy cracked its bark
when autumn came the tree would always mourn
the first fallen apple
and all the other ones to touch the ground
