Something glitters nice
at your feet,
a snake that covers you
and seems to lay on you
a beautiful shining layer,
and your skin seems to thicken.
He embraces you, climbs higher
and higher, and you find yourself
covered in bark.
You've become a tree,
you can't move anymore,
look, you have apples and leaves too,
and you're speechless like a shut eyelid.
At your feet passes a man,
and the snake, still laying around you,
asks: "Would you like an apple?"
Tree, you are the tree of knowledge,
for you've acknowledged
the status
of a temptation instrument.
