DREAMING ON THE BANKS OF RAIN

Motto: “We walked around the lake…
And woke up in the rain…”
(The Cure)

We walked around the lake…

Spinning in a visionary chase for luminaries,
Wandering in spirals of smoke,
Fading behind invisible glances,
Unconsciously diving into treacherous moors of slumber.

We woke up in the rain…

A rain of dust that covered our weak sleepy eyes…
And we kept spinning in swirls of blindness.

The lake had swallowed our dreams,
The night was stealing our souls away…

Surrendering to the incomprehensible,
We dug our bodies into their luring death;
Our lips could feel the moist sand
Moving, writhing,
Biting our hesitative grip.

We walked around the lake…

Its mesmerizing stillness had hypnotized our minds,
And we abandoned our memories to a bleached past,
Forgetting who we were, what we were…

We fell on our knees
Overwhelmed by the rain’s approach…
Its touch had drawn so close to us
That we let our feeble hearts
Dry out in its torment.

Obscure marionettes in the hands of a fugitive wind,
We dived and drowned, divided by the aquatic endlessness.

The rain was breathing through our skin -
Rattling on windows of water,
It almost murdered our dream.

Our eyes, two wells of bitter tears,
Melting within the voice of innocence,
Could no longer see the other’s desperate stretched arms…

Swimming through realms of vanity,
Abandoning the lake and its luring dream,
We woke up in the rain…

On separate, distant shores,
Away from a long lost hallucinating oasis,
We were enduring the fingers of remorse
Slowly creep on our senseless bodies…

We walked around the lake,
Looking for the other’s illusory shadow,
Tearing the tissues of unconsciousness,
Fighting against the waves of heavy night
That had so peacefully stifled our world.

We tried to die within a dream,
We tried to chase our rain away
And still, the lake would never let us go,

Enslaving two harlequins of moist
Who still keep spinning in delirious circles
Among cold dreams of rain.
