ANGELS OF WAX
by Sorana Lucia Salomeia Watch the rain fall… in endless streams… Forever… Why would I ask it to stop? Watch the saddened world die… slowly… Within a mere drop of rain… So why should either of us care? I don’t know whether it is day or night, The rain has blinded out the sky. And what if I went out there, In the middle of the nothingness the streets have turned into, What if I gave the heavy air one last kiss Before setting my angry thunder free To set the earth on fire? And if I cried out loud, Who would be out there to hear me? What would you care If I ever tried to touch you? How many more angels of wax Will have to end up dying, Melting within this miserable grave of ignorance, Burning, weeping poor hopeless tears Over your imprisoned mind, Falling over a dream that has been dwelling On a feeble playing – card castle… So why would anyone care How many more angels of wax Are yet to fall down on their knees Imploring the odds, Breaking their wings through the killing darkness Of hopelessness… Why should you care Who is to throw the dice, What unknown petty wind Will blow your game of cards down? You will never know what lies behind your shadow, You will never see the anguish or the pain Of death… this constant death around you… You will neither see nor feel The hallucinating dance of the dying angels of wax Before they breathe their last… Watch the streams of wax Overflood the conscience of the night, Watch the death of wax flutter its mane in madness Like a desperate beast expanding its wrath, Deserting the oceans, Killing the angels… Copyrighted © Sorana Salomeia, Iasi, Romania
