just the moon's cold eye
and my shuffling feet as I took my heart out for a walk last night sharing the same pair of shoes and the same sorrows together we counted pubs stars and street corners joked on her irregular beats and my incoherent discourse and after having soaked into some cheap beer and having won that stupid spitting contest she finally confessed why they'd quarrelled and how god packed his things and left the other day
