Have you ever really looked at yourself in a mirror?
Just stare deep into your own eyes,
Sometimes it feels
There's another persons on the other side,
If I stare too much I get a bit scared
Thinking the person will start talking,
But she just sits there and cries.
Even though my eyes have lost some of their light
And my arms feel sore from rocking,
When I look, I still see my past self
A little girl trapped on the inside
Innocent and naive,
Still full of hopes and dreams,
Seeing the good in every person.
I wish I could somehow warn her
About the crossroads ahead,
Just reach out my hand and give her a note,
With what was covered by her veil of trust,
Words now screaming in my head,
Write all the wisdom I have long-lost
And use it when I needed to sail my boat.
Though I've grown up when it comes to numbers,
She is still me...
The one I want again to be.
