On the battlefield of lost love
Eros’ arrows lie
Broken around trembling hearts
Condemned to die,
Bound to the stakes of pity,
Waiting for trained hands
To end it quickly,
In silent horror, a toy for the winds,
To the scarred wood they cling –
Beating still, while silver bullets
Go through paper hearts
