Literary Translation - Translations of classic and original poetry and other materialsThis text is a follow-up  |

I’d like us to find each other again
someday...
somewhere...
in one of the places where our memories meet:
in the petals of the flowers that I used to put in your hair,
in the waves of the sea that used to caress your legs,
in the silence that
so many times had us say more than a million words could have ever done,
in the blue sky
that was shining on your skin the day you left,
in your eyes
that I’ll never stop adoring.

I’d like us to recognize each other,
even if I will no longer be Me
and you will no longer be You,
even if Us will be by then
only the perfumed scent of another century...
I’d like our eyes to tell each other
what our lips never had the time to say,
what our hands never had the courage to promise,
what my heart never stopped dreaming of.

I’d like our tears to sing to each other
the story of the years that separated us,
I’d like our hearts to beat the poetry of every second of distance,
of every mile of desire,
of every star that we watched at the same time,
each of us in their corner of the world,
trying to guess in its light the eyes of the other,
to feel even by a micron closer...

I’d like your hand to reach out for mine,
and I’d like us to lose ourselves in the oblivion
of Me,
of You,
and of Us, which will be by then
only the perfumed scent of another life.
